Where the build is now (and why we write as we go)

Where we are

We bought the land in 2022 and broke ground at the end of March 2023. The house is now in its final stages — close enough to finished that we can see the end of it, not so close that we would call it done. There is no tidy ending to report yet, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

Why write it live

The polished, after-the-fact guides already exist, and they're forgettable. What nobody else has is the day-to-day reality, including what it actually cost in time and money. That's what this is for.
